I step out of work. The air is warm and smells of rain. In the distance are echoes of thunder. I walk between the low industrial buildings. A noise is building up, like a wall of rain and wind slowly approaching. It hits suddently, shaking the trees, throwing at me sand and dry leaves as sharp as paper. I have to stop myself from smiling too wide while I push back against the air.

Shower thought: I have tweetdelete.net nuking all my tweets older than three months now.

What if this was built into Mastodon?

Possible enhancements:
πŸ‘‰πŸΎ let the user have toots get set to listener-only/direct instead of deleted
πŸ‘‰πŸΎ maybe an option to mail some kind of archive to the user before they're deleted (make sure this mail doesn't get cached on the instance's side, as an admin I do not want to have to keep track of any more of your private info than I absolutely must)

Also, while I'm promoting stuff relevant to me, I have a co-authored paper in the proceedings of Sinn und Bedeutung 22! I'll also be presenting some related solo research at Sinn und Bedeutung 23!

B and I have decided that this fall we are going to try to detect the exoplanet HAT-P-32b en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAT-P-32

It is probably technically possible with our gear if we do all the measurements cleanly.

An interior for the house :D
I should probably animate it, but I need a break from staring at this thing.

I cannot figure out why mastodon feeds are loading so slowly. I tried to clear out dead jobs, etc. Perhaps we just need more RAM

@garbados
I remain convinced there are about two dozen people in this world who could destroy modern networking / computing permanently just by sitting down at the keys and uttering the correct incantation. Every day, they get up, make coffee, log on, and choose to allow the network to continue. For now.

There is no hot water in Uspantan, but I'm so dirty I might go for the cold shower in 50F

I'm thinking of writing a blog post in which I interview some fediverse admins/mods about what it's like to manage communities. Gonna come up with some questions of my own, but if you have specific inquiries you'd like answered, let me know

We were down for a bit, but that is because I purging the cache of images from remote servers. I had to do save space. We should be good on HD size for awhile.

Speaking of server issues, I think we need to have a spooky meeting. It seems like we have relatively small number of active accounts. I'm totally cool with that, but I want to raise the idea of purging the unactive accounts closing membership to our instance unless people ask me. What do folks think?

I’m back in coban from our field site…they have wine here :D :D

I did it...i put words in the book proposal document. That's the hardest part. In my experience, once the ball starts rolling, it rolls
